Kamloops is a mid-sized city of roughly 115,000 people at the confluence of the Thompson Rivers. The local economy is a mix of resource industries (forestry, mining, ranching), healthcare and public sector, post-secondary education (TRU), and a growing base of trade, construction, and professional services businesses.
It's not a tech hub. Most of the businesses here aren't SaaS companies. But there are plenty of companies in the BC Interior that have grown to a point where marketing matters — and where "post something on Instagram and hope" isn't a plan anymore.
That's the gap I work in.
What Kind of Work I Do Here
I'm a marketing systems consultant. The work is diagnostic and strategic: figuring out why a business's marketing isn't producing what it should, building the systems to fix it, and setting up the reporting to know whether it's working.
This is useful for:
- Professional services firms — accountants, lawyers, engineers, consultants — that generate most of their business through referrals and want to build something more systematic
- B2B companies in trades, supply, and distribution that have grown through relationships but are trying to grow beyond their existing network
- Healthcare and wellness businesses trying to build consistent local demand without depending on Google ads alone
- Founders and operators who are doing their own marketing, know it's not as effective as it should be, and want an outside perspective on what's actually broken
I'm not a social media manager or an ad agency. If you need someone to run your Facebook ads or post to LinkedIn for you, I can help you find the right vendor for that — but it's not what I do.
Remote-First, BC Interior Focus
Most of my client work is done remotely. That's by design, not by default — it means I can work with companies across BC and across Canada, and it keeps costs lower than flying somewhere for every meeting.
Being based in Kamloops matters for a different reason: I understand the BC Interior business context. The economy here is different from Vancouver. Deal cycles are different. Trust is built differently. The businesses that work with me aren't VC-backed startups optimizing for growth at all costs — they're companies that have been operating for years, have real customers, and want to build something durable.
Roughly 70% of my client base is outside Kamloops — spread across BC, Alberta, and the rest of Canada. If you're in Salmon Arm, Merritt, Kelowna, Vernon, or Prince George, the work is exactly the same. If you're in Toronto, same deal.
The Right Starting Point
If you're not sure whether the kind of work I do is relevant to your situation, the Diagnostic is the lowest-risk way to find out. It's a structured audit and diagnosis of your marketing — a fixed-scope engagement at $1,500 that produces a written report with a prioritized action plan. No ongoing commitment required.
Some clients do the Diagnostic and then handle implementation themselves. Others continue into a project-based engagement. Either is a reasonable outcome.
If you want to understand more about how I work before committing to anything, /about has background on my experience, and /work-with-me explains how engagements are structured.
